The Mysterious Island is the more recent concept inspired by fascinating civilizations in the Americas. From the advanced minds of the Mayans to the fierceness of the Aztec warriors to the cave-dwelling tribes of northern America, to the Incan empire and reed-floating Uru of South America, I want to create an immersive world highlighting some of the most interesting civilizations in The New World's history.
The Vigilante is an idea that has been in my head since college. Think younger, medieval Batman inspired by history related to the London underground (inspiration from The Sorcerer's Tale by Alec Ryrie, The Strange Death of Edmund Godfrey by Alan Marshall, and The Medieval Underworld by Andrew McCall to name a few).
The Mysterious Island:
A mysterious island is discovered in the middle ages by a group of pirates in search of a powerful legend. With them - our hero - is a young man that was forced to join them, but has a good heart and a yearning for adventure, but fears he doesn't have what it takes to survive (fantasy and reality are quite different). Upon reaching the island, they encounter many interesting natives inspired by the past. If the pirates succeed in finding and obtaining what they seek, it could mean disaster for the world. Yet if our hero tries to stop them, it would mean his certain death. What will he do? You'll have to read the novel to find out.
The Vigilante:
Years after our hero's father's mysterious death, his medieval village on England's east coast is plagued by dark entities bleeding over from the London underground. Conspiracies and dark sorcery is ever whispering and our hero, full of self doubt and personal confliction, cannot help but see it. After a painful confrontation, he feels he can no longer sit idly by as this darkness grows. Then, as if it were fate, he discovers a hidden family secret. After stumbling onto a hidden room in his family manor stocked with unique equipment, weapons, and parchment full of names and information, he realizes that his father's death was no accident like he had been told. To avenge his father's murder and save his village, he will need to take up his father's mantle and carry on the mission his father started, becoming who he was always destined to be. Can he do it alone? Who will guide him? You'll have to wait and see.
